CAPE TOWN TO KALK BAY, ON THE TRAIN

Monday, March 18, 2013

I had a little adventure on Sunday. We parked in town, paid R11 and jumped on the train to Kalk Bay. The trip stopped at various stations along the route and took about 45 minutes. The Kalk Bay station is right by The Brass Bell restaurant where we were headed for drinks so it was super convenient. Plus there would be just about no parking if you drove. Opposite is the most delish ice-cream shop. Another R11 later and we were on our way home. Cheaper than petrol. Prices depend on what 'class' you choose but it's much of a muchness. It was such an experience with many laughs and firsts. It was inspiring to see Cape Town through the eyes of the train, all walks of a life enjoying their Sunday. Some off to the beach, some home from work, some tourists and some vendors. I felt safe in our group and will be doing this again, soon.
